Vote Che Long to 'teach Najib a lesson'

KUALA BESUT Even an unhappy Umno leader is urging Kuala Besut voters unsatisfied with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s administration to choose PAS’ candidate Azlan Yusof in the fast-approaching July 24 by-election, claimed PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.

NONEMohamad (left) claimed the latest issue of contention, even among the senior Terengganu Umno leadership, is the recent appointment of Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim as the new chairperson for the Pilgrim Fund Board, or Tabung Haji.

“This Umno person, things that cannot be said (in the open), he tells Abang Mat (Mohamad),” he said, while declining to name the unhappy politician in question.

“He (the Terengganu Umno leader) said please tell the Besut people to ensure (PAS in) Kuala Besut wins, teach Najib a lesson (for) appointing one who is incapable to be the head of Tabung Haji.”

Effective July 1, Abdul Azeez, who has been part of the Tabung Haji board of directors since 2011, officially replaces longe-serving Abi Musa Asa'ari Mohamed Nor.

“They (state Umno leaders) said in order to change Najib’s mind, ensure (PAS) wins at Kuala Besut and ensure Che Long (Azlan) wins this July 24,” said Mohamad, or more commonly known as Mat Sabu.
PAS veep: We will get MB post
Meanwhile, PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub expressed confidence that PAS will obtain the Terengganu MB post should the coming by-election result in a hung state assembly.

NONE“If we reach 16:16, InsyaAllah is that truly happens, PAS will become MB and resolve the land problem in the state,” Salahuddin (right) said during a ceramah at Seberang Barat Luar, Kuala Besut, last night.

In fact PAS, the Kubang Kerian MP said, successfully resolved 75 percent of the problem in 1999, when it ruled the state.

The 16:16 reference refers to a hung assembly with both Pakatan Rakyat and BN holding 16 state seats each, which is what will happen if PAS wins in the slated July 24 poll.

If that does come to pass, law experts have stated that it will be up to the Terengganu sultan to decide on the MB post, or to dissolve the assembly so that a fresh state election can be held instead.
