Cops probing presence of minors at Act 355 rally

Initial investigations by the police have uncovered that infants and children were at PAS' rally at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

According to Dang Wangi district police chief Mohd Sukri Kaman, the children were between seven months to 15 years of age.

"It was found that many rally participants in purple cloths had either brought infants or young children to the rally.

"This is a violation of Section 4 (2)(f) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. The matter is being investigated. There has been no arrests thus far," said Mohd Sukri in a statement today.

There was an significant number of children at the rally yesterday, which was organised by PAS in support of proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.

Pahang PAS chief Rosli Abdul Jabar wrote on his Facebook page that children, including those from religious schools, will learn to love their religion through the rally.

He said that children must learn to love their religion now to avoid rejecting the religion when they are adults.- Mkini
