PKR rep rains scorn on Negri Sembilan MB over unending flash floods

A PKR lawmaker has poured scorn on Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan for allegedly ignoring the state's recurring flash flood problems.
Sikamat assemblyperson Aminuddin Harun in a statement today claimed the state government was “reluctant” to receive a memorandum on May 17 concerning the flash flood problem, "showing their lack of concern for the people".
“Five years ago, there were floods, last year there were floods, last month there were floods, last week there were floods, what has the BN Negeri Sembilan government done all this time?” he asked.
He said the people had nothing left to say about the floods that allegedly occur in Labu, Sikamat, Temiang, Linggi and many other places in the state over the past five years.
Their complaints, he said, have been met with silence or ineffective actions.
“The government and the related authorities should take the matter seriously and not let it perpetuate to the point of disrupting the lives of the people.
“All sorts of promises have been made by the Umno-BN state government to solve the problem, but no steps have been taken,” said Aminuddin.
The assemblyperson said the frequent flash floods shouldn't be blamed on development.
There should be proper planning, and development should be carried out in a responsible manner, he said.

“Have pity on the people,” he said, urging the state authorities to deliver an “end to their suffering”.
On May 4, Bernama reported Jalan Kuala Pilah-Tampin had to be closed off for four hours, due to flash floods caused by incessant rain overnight, according to the Negeri Sembilan Civil Defence Force.
According to the national news daily, a car with two women inside was swept away by the current in the early hours of the morning in Kampung Ulu Bendul, but were fortunately rescued by the state fire department.- Mkini
