Khairul Hafiz conquers Southeast Asia with 100m gold



Malaysian sprinter Khairul Hafiz Jantan tonight won the gold medal after achieving the fastest time in the 100m dash at the SEA Games 2017.
The Malaccan completed the sprint in 10.38 seconds, beating eight other competitors, including another Malaysian participant Jonathan Nyepa.
The Phillippines' Erich Shauwn Cray came in half a second behind the 19-year-old Khairul, at 10.43 seconds.
Thailand's Kritsada Namsuwun came in third, also with a time of 10.43 seconds.
Jonathan finished in fifth place with a time of 10.66 seconds.
Khairul was seen kneeling and shedding tears after winning the sprint.
Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin were present to witness Khairul's triumph.  
Earlier, Zainatul Husniah Zulkifli won silver in the women's 100m sprint. -Mkini
