42-hour protest ends, but fight for cheaper fuel continues

Pakatan Harapan Youth have ended their 42-hour protest against rising fuel prices, just as the government announced a drop in fuel prices.
However, protest leader Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin said they will continue to fight for cheaper fuel prices and the overthrow of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
"As long as Najib continues to burden the people, this campaign will continue," Shazni said in a statement today.
Shazni and several others had camped outside of Parliament since 1am Tuesday before ending their protest at 6pm today.
The group had announced their protest after fuel prices reached a record high last Thursday, since the new weekly managed-float system was introduced in March.
RON95 went up by seven sen to RM2.38 per litre, while RON97 rose six sen to RM2.66 per litre. Meanwhile, diesel was up five sen to RM2.25 per litre.
It was the fifth consecutive week that prices had gone up.
However, prices will go down at midnight with the new weekly price for RON95 and RON97 at RM2.30 and RM2.58 per litre respectively,
Meanwhile, the new weekly price of diesel will go down by two sen to RM2.23 per litre, also the first decline in six weeks.- Mkini
