DAP MP shown exit for insisting on fair ruling over gambling remark

PARLIAMENT | Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai was given the marching orders when he pressed Deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee to make a fair ruling.
The incident followed Deputy Federal Territories Minister Loga Bala Mohan's remark that “they have been made known that many gambling operators in Cheras had used Cheras' (MP) name.”
Earlier today, Tan, during his 2018 Budget debate, alleged that numerous citizens perceived Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor as a "corrupted minister".
This prompted Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia to instruct Tan to retract his remark, which the latter did.
However, Kiandee, who chaired the sitting later, allowed Loga's remark despite Tan's protest.
The deputy speaker initially asked Loga to retract the remark but changed his mind after the latter offered an explanation.
"If I were wrong, then I will retract.. But I did not accuse him. I had said that this is the assumption outside. I did not accuse him, I did not say he did it," said Loga.
Kiandee then ruled that Loga did not make an accusation and asked Tan, much to his displeasure, to sit down.
Tan, who remained standing, said: "(In the earlier incident) I also said many said (Tengku Adnan corrupted minister), but I had retracted my remark, I appeal for a fair (ruling)."
"YB Cheras, out from the Dewan," responded the deputy speaker.
Earlier today, Tan brought up the contentious sale of a plot of land by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and linked it to Tengku Adnan.

He had alleged earlier this month that DBKL sold the plot of land to an "Umno crony" at below market value, which the Federal Territories Ministry later denied.
"Since the current minister took office after the 2013 polls, from 2013 to June 2015, a total of 45 pieces of prime land totalling 228.08 acres (approximately 92ha) owned by DBKL had been sold.
"These lands are leased to banks, and later sold to developers for a price that is two or three times higher.
"For your information, many of the people in Kuala Lumpur no longer see the minister as the honourable minister, but as a corrupted minister.
"No ill intent on my part, but this is the impression and perception of the public," said the DAP national chairperson.
Tan's remarks drew the ire of BN lawmakers, who immediately stood up to criticise him.
The speaker then instructed Tan to retract his remark, threatening to eject him from the House or halt the debate if he refused.- Mkini
