Wanita MCA wants Bung to apologise over 'sexist remarks against women'

Wanita MCA chairperson Heng Seai Kie has called on Umno parliamentarian Bung Moktar Radin to apologise over what she believes to be sexist remarks he made against women.
"Wanita MCA is aghast at Bung’s remarks which stated, 'if a woman is not pretty, even if she is nude, who would want her'.
"Such (a) derogatory comment is not only sexist, but also undermines women in general. Therefore he owes Malaysian women an apology," said Heng in a statement today.
Bung, in Parliament on Monday, had actually said that "if a woman is not pretty, even if she is nude, who wouldn't want her."
Whether he believes that people would want a nude but not pretty woman or otherwise, his comments on the headscarf ban issue still courted the wrath of DAP lawmaker Teo Nie Ching who urged Bung to retract his remarks.
Like Teo, Heng noted how this was not the first time Bung (photo) has made insulting remarks against women.

"Before this, there were 'bocor setiap bulan' and 'women drivers are slow and oblivious' remarks which have embarrassed and insulted all women. This is unbearable and it is time for Bung to apologise!"
Bung, she added, could have argued on the headscarf ban issue with an "informed and rational perspective", instead of issuing a humiliating remark.
"Bung's remark has caused public uproar, not only has it failed to speak for Muslim women, it has also humiliated and offended all Malaysian women."
Heng also urged Parliament speaker to sternly penalise those who come up with "sexist and hurting remarks."
"This is to maintain the integrity of the Parliament, so that it will not be made a laughing stock and tarnish Malaysia’s international image," she said.- Mkini
