Words In The Quran : Sharia

Image result for islam

Ok folks here is another instalment of the 'Words In The Quran' series.

Some of you (Muslims I think) have asked for more discussion about the Quran.

I dont have the time or that extra pair of pointer fingers to set up another blog to discuss the Quran.

But let me point you in that direction for your own reference. Here are some sites that may be of interest.

WARNING AND BIG BIG DISCLAIMER : Dont believe / disbelieve  anything before you have read it and examined it.

It does not take up much time at all to read these.

1. ahleaqal.com
2. aastana.com
3. Biblical Mullahs
4. Mental Bondage
5. OtakKring (Malay)
6. Berontak untuk berotak (Malay)

The discussion in these sites is very, very extremely "advanced". Those of you who are heart patients or suffer blood pressure take your medication first or keep them handy.  (Because "it is your" religion that has made you go  'cuckoo' whenever you hear something different from what your grandfathers taught you. Dont blame the Jews, the Christians, the Mohicans, the Chinese or anyone else.)

REPEAT WARNING AND BIG BIG DISCLAIMER : Dont believe / disbelieve anything before you have read it and examined it.

Anyway, if you would like to, please ask me any questions you may have about the Quran. I will try to answer them.

Non Muslims - you can please ask me those 'kill the disbelievers' type verses in the Quran.

Or 'the sun sets into a muddy pool', 'Mary is the sister of Moses' type questions in the Quran. Easy peasy.

But lets make it more challenging.

What is the Quranic Allah?

What is god, gods or the "G"od of the religions that we have ?

Why does your particular religion have its particular "business model"?

Like for example :

1. good people go to heaven, bad people go to hell
2. good people are reborn looking like Roger Moore, bad people are reborn as cockroaches.
3. life just keeps going around in a cycle of births and deaths

Why did your religion choose this or that particular business model?

Yes I know that is what your god told you.

The question is WHY did your god tell you this?

WHY? WHY? WHY?

Dont crack your heads too much.
Go and ask your religious gurus and wal retards to answer this question.

They probably will not be able to answer this simple question.

You know why? Because they have as much education as a rats ass.

If you are reading this, you probably have more education than them.

That is why you are doomed. Despite your better education, you "hang your faith" on retards who are half educated.

Having a PhD in Religious Studies does not mean they are educated.  A PhD who believes in 'magical flying unicorns that flew from Judea to heaven and back'   is not an educated person.

But is this what your gods really told you?

Or did your grandfathers' imagine it all  up?

Your grandfathers' just created these ideas and you simply believed them, without any questioning?

Telan ubat dengan botol and plastic cap sekali.

From my experience the Quran can answer all these questions - from within its own pages.

This means within the consistency that is inside the Quran.

But once you step outside the Quran, thats when I have to wave goodbye to you at  Land's End.

Land's End is the final tip of land in Cornwall in England where the old sailing ships would see the last of England before disappearing over the horizon.

Land's End, Cornwall

Once you leave the Quran, magical flying unicorns can transport you wherever you wish to go.  It becomes a script without limits.

End of walkabout. Today I would like to discuss the word sharia in the Quran.

Most Muslims (and hence all non Muslims) relate the word sharia with "religious laws" aka sharia laws, hudud laws and such.

What does the Quran say?

Folks, why do the retards whom you listen to NEVER quote the Quran for the things they say?

  1. They talk about sharia. Why dont they quote the sharia from the Quran?
  2. They talk about sunnah. Why dont they quote the sunnah from the Quran?
  3. They talk about hadith. Why dont they quote the hadith from the Quran?
  4. They talk about hijab. Why dont they quote the hijab from the Quran?
  5. They talk about hudud. Why dont they quote the hudud from the Quran?
Then what is the purpose of those Quran verses that do talk about sharia, sunnah, hadith, hijab and hudud?

What shall we do with those Quran verses that talk about these things?

Write them in nice calligraphy and hang on the wall in your house?
Why not hang them around the neck as well?

Back to sharia. The word sharia means 'the way'.  A way to somewhere or to something. A method.  In modern Arabic, a street or a road (jalan) is called sharia. For example Sharia al Tahrir means 'Liberation Street' or 'Independence Street'.

The correct arabic word for law is 'qanun' - from where the Malay word kanun (also meaning law) is derived.

So here are ALL FIVE verses in the Quran that mention SHARIA and its derivatives :

No. 1 Surah  7:163   And ask them about the town which stood by the sea; when they exceeded the limits of the Sabbath, when their fish came to them on the day of their Sabbath, appearing on the surface of the water, and on the day on which they did not keep the Sabbath they did not come to them; thus did We try them because they transgressed - Shakir.

Here the word shura-an (derivative of sharia) is translated as "appearing". Others say "visibly".   Here is the Arabic Corpus:

So there is no sharia law here.

No. 2 Surah  42:13  He has decreed (shara'a) for you the same way of life (deen) decreed for Noah, and what we inspired to you, and what we decreed for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: "You shall uphold this way of life (aqeemu-deen), and do not divide it." Those who associate partners will greatly resent what you invite them to do. Allah redeems to Himself whomever He wills; He guides to Himself only those who totally submit.

The word shara'a here means decreed aka showed the way. There is no mention of sharia laws, hudud laws etc.

Here is another one :

No. 3  Surah  45:18   Then WE set thee on a clear path concerning the Affair (sharii'atin minal amri); so follow it, and follow not the vain desires of those who do not know.

Here sharia refers "a clear path".  This is correct. There is no sharia law here. Sharia means a way or a path or the method to do something. About anything and everything. Next, the Quran is the sharia.

No 4 Surah  5:48  And We have revealed to you the Book with the truth, verifying what is before it of the Book and a guardian over it, therefore judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their low desires (to turn away) from the truth that has come to you; for every one of you did We appoint a way (shir'atan) and rites (minhaj), and if Allah had pleased He would have made you (all) a single people, but that He might try you in what He gave you, therefore strive with one another to hasten to virtuous deeds; to Allah is your return, of all (of you), so He will let you know that in which you differed;

Here the traditionalists translate the word  shir'atan (sharia) as 'law'. This is incorrect because the literal meaning of sharia is "a way".  Qanun means law.  'Way'  fits in perfectly :

"for every one of you did We appoint a way (shir'atan) and rites (minhaj)".

Finally the last verse here is important because  there is reference to a wrong or bad  'sharia' that goes against what Allah has decreed through His  Kalimah or words of the Quran:

No. 5 Surah 42:21  Or do they have partners (shuraka'au) who ordained  (shara'a) for them from the deen (way of life) that Allah has not consented ?   And if not for a decisive word,  surely it would have been judged between them. And surely for the wrongdoers there is a painful punishment.

Here the word sharia (shara'a) is translated as ordained. "Decree" also fits in well.

As I said, in this verse above  their associates in shirik (shurakaa) have shara'a (ordained)  things for them without the consent of Allah.

  • The Christian Bible says that adulterers shall be stoned to death.
  • The Quran says no such thing.
  • Stoning adulterers to death is NOT part  of the sharia or "the way"  prescribed in the Quran.

There are no specific laws prescribed in the Quran with the words 'sharia laws' appended to them.

The Arabic word for law is 'qanun'. Not sharia. Sharia means a way or a method.

These FIVE VERSES in the Quran provide all the information the human race needs to know about the word sharia and its derivatives as they are mentioned in the Quran.

Once you have read these FIVE VERSES that mention the word sharia, you are just as expert or more expert than the Mufti of Egypt or the Imam of Mecca about 'sharia' in the Quran.

It is highly likely that they never paid attention to the word sharia that appears in these FIVE VERSES.

However if you have your grandfather's stories about sharia laws, which are not from the Quran, then I must wave goodbye to you at Land's End. You can sail over the horizons and fall off the edge into the dragon's mouth.
