Guan Eng reveals photos of suspect's wife with BN leaders

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has distributed photographs of BN leaders posing with the wife of a businessperson detained in connection with the undersea tunnel scandal.
This comes in the wake of the second photograph of Lim with the suspect, who allegedly received RM19 million after promising he can derail MACC's probe into the tunnel.
At a press conference today, the chief minister questioned who was leaking the photographs of him with the businessperson to the media.
Lim asked how were these photographs leaked when only the businessperson had them in his mobile phone.
"Even I do not have them.
"BN’s attempt to pass off BN's scandals as Pakatan Harapan's scandals will not work, when the people can see the BN federal government for the global kleptocracy that it is," he added.
Lim said there might be more photographs of him and the businessperson, including with his wife and family members.
"So what is common to me will lead the BN media to ask next why I am taking photos with his wife and family members.
"Does the act of taking photos with him, his wife and family make both of us close buddies?" he asked.
"If taking photos with his wife makes us buddies, then will the BN media also print photos of his wife with other BN leaders?" Lim asked when distributing the photos to members of the media.
"Will the BN media question and seek explanations from the BN ministers about them taking photos with the businessperson's wife?" he added.
Based on the photographs of the businessperson's wife with BN leaders, Lim claimed that it was clear that the husband and wife are strong BN supporters.
Therefore, he claimed, it was no surprise that the businessperson was appointed as a director of a major publicly listed firm.
"That is why the BN media is advised to remember not to throw stones when you live in glass houses," he added.
Over the past two weeks, various quarters have demanded an explanation from Lim over a photograph of him with the businessperson.
The chief minister denied that the businessperson and he were friends, adding that he often snapped photographs with members of the public due to his position.
Yesterday, a second photograph emerged showing the two of them seated in the backseat of a car.
The RM6.3 billion tunnel project and its contractor Consortium Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd have been the subject of a major probe by MACC. However, to date, no one has been charged.
Previously, The Star reported that the businessperson's wife is a radio deejay who had a Tamil programme focusing on Indian Malaysian families living in poverty.
She gained prominence for her social work and in 2013 attracted controversy when she was identified in the list of "Most Powerful Women in Malaysia".
The list was an advertorial paid for by a small firm. The businessperson's wife has denied reports that she was behind the advertorial. -Mkini
